The Healing Field, a 9/11 memorial in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Each year, 2,996 flags are planted in the courtyard, each flag representing a life lost— from firefighters, to soldiers, to civilians, to even toddlers.

I Started taking my boys down to the Tempe Healing Field at Tempe Town lake last year. We walk around, listen to the audio, they ask all kinds of questions, we pray, put a penny on a boot, and read names. Yellow ribbons are tied to flags of first responders, sky blue ribbons for aircrews, boots represent the veterans, and teddy bears at the base of each flag of a child! It is an amazing memorial honoring those who lost their lives, and a great way to teach our kids about what happened.

21 years ago today. An event that forever changed and shaped our lives in ways we never could have imagined.

In honor of all of the lives lost that day and in the 21 years since, we will teach the next generation about the brave men and women, the heroes, and what it means to when we say we are proud to be an American.

We will always remember and we will ensure they are never forgotten.

September 11th, the day our country came together in harmony as we mourned the lives of the 2,977 lost that tragic day.

I was a young mother in 2001, my son was nearly 18 months old on 9/11. He was in my arms as we watched the world unfold in tragedy and shock.

Fast-forward and our country has lost many things, one that we haven't is our ability to come together in harmony to honor those we lost that tragic day.

On Friday I had the honor of standing alongside some incredible men and women from all walks of life as we put together this years #healingfieldaz tribute together for its 20th year in a row.
