Midshipmen from ASU NROTC are continuing the tradition of helping set up the #healingfieldaz 🇺🇸
For the past 17 years the. #healingfieldaz tempegov #tempebeachpark have been placing a flag and a small information card for all who have lost their lives during 9/11. This was the first year the field went virtual. I have gone every year and felt pain. I wanted to post a picture of what it looked like in the past. Please, honor all who died because of hate and let’s work towards peace in our country. #neverforget
This morning I was very honored to join Tempe's first responders at Tempe Beach Park to read the names of the first responders who lost their lives 19 years ago today in the September 11th terrorist attacks. Although the Healing Fields event could not be in-person this year due to COVID-19, it is one of my favorite annual events, and I'm so glad we could offer a sunrise observance virtually.
As I was reading through the names, I also looked at where they were from, whether they were police officers or firefighters, and whether they were counted as found or missing. That was really hard to read. May we never forget.
Thank you to the Tempe Exchange Club and 9-11 Healing Field Memorial for organizing this event and helping us pay tribute to our fallen heroes and fellow Americans. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

If you ever have the opportunity to visit the 9/11 memorial in Tempe, AZ, it is a sobering experience. These is a flag to represent every life lost on that day. Each flag has a card with information about the person who it represents. The second photo I’ve shared has a yellow ribbon, that indicates a First Responder, the tiny flag at the base of the larger flag was left by a visitor. The last two photos are card and boots representing someone who I felt moved by. He showed true heroism that day. ❤️ We will never forget their sacrifices! #911 #healingfieldaz #neverforget
Huge thanks to tempepolice tempefirefighters Tempe Mayor cdwoods7 tempegov and councilmembers doreengarlidtempe and arredondosavage along with many others, for helping us honor the lives lost on September 11th, 2001. Together, we will #neverforget what happened that day.

“It made 9-11 more real to me!” These were the words of one of our students as we brought them to the 9-11 #healingfieldAZ at the Tempe Beach Park. For the past 16 years, the Exchange Club of Tempe has hosted a memorial for the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. I took our junior and senior high students to the #911memorial this morning to help me not forget #911 and to teach them the historical and spiritual ramifications of that dreadful day. All but one of the students were born after 9-11-01 so it was hard for them to fathom the effects of that day. When you stand in the middle of a field filled with flags, each representing a life lost on 9-11, it’s overwhelming and heartbreaking. There were three times I lost it today. The first was when the trumpet played Taps at every major event of 9-11. The second was when I saw the teddy bears under certain flags which represented children that died that day. The last time was when I met a family who came to Tempe specifically to see the flag that honored their son. I wanted to say “I’m praying for you” or ask “Is there anything I can do for you” but instead I was a blubbering mess that just shook their hand. I don’t know what the future holds but one lesson keeps drawing me back: life is uncertain and it’s ending is unknown so #alwaysbeready. Are you ready for your life to end? If you’re not happy with your life, CHANGE IT. If you’re not sure of your eternal destiny, know this: Jesus loves you, He died for you to pay for your sins, He was buried and rose again from the dead to prove that He has power over sin and death so that you don’t have to die twice (physically and spiritually). Simply Admit you’re a sinner, believe that Jesus is the ONLY Way to Heaven, and confess your need for forgiveness, grace, and mercy. If you want more information, please feel free to contact me. Are you saved? Are you going to Heaven when you die? “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13
